2026-2027 Health Course Options
2026-2027 Health Course Options
Introduction
A friendly reminder that for the 2026–27 school year, MVLA is offering Classes of 2027, 2028, and 2029 four temporary options to meet the Health graduation requirement:
- Traditional in-seat Health,
- MVLA Adult School Online Health (online coursework with in-person testing at Adult Education, limited spots per school during the school year, priority given to students closest to graduation),
- Imagine Learning EdgeEX (fully online, self-paced, district-provided, expires June 4, 2027, no in-person testing or progress checks),
- or taking a health course out of district (Students must submit an Out of District Coursework Form to counselor for pre-approval).
Click here to review details on the options.
Traditional in-seat Health
If you have Traditional in-seat Health, you will learn more about which class period, room, and teacher you have on your class schedule.
MVLA Adult School Online Health
If you are taking Health through the MVLA Adult School Online Health, your MVLA contact person is charles.smith@mvla.net. You will need to contact your counselor for a referral and attend an in-person orientation with a guardian to complete the registration paperwork. You can schedule to attend an orientation on MVLA Adult School’s website.
The start date of the Adult Ed Health class is Tuesday, August 18th.
Please note that there are limited spots (300) during the school year. Students are required to meet with their teacher at least once a week (in person or via Zoom). Tests must be taken in-person, on school computers, and under teacher supervision — no fully remote exams. Students do not need an appointment to take a test, and the High School Lab hours are M-TH 10AM-8:30PM and Friday 12PM-4PM

Imagine Learning EdgeX
If you choose to take health via the online platform EdgeX, this one-semester course will be entirely on your own schedule. Even though this is a semester course, you have one year to complete it (June 4, 2027). If you do not complete the course by June 4, 2027, the course will expire. This is risk-free; for uncompleted courses, no grade will go on your transcript. Students will just need to take the course either through Summer School or in-seat the following year.
As with all MVLA classes, a student cannot add a new course after the 3rd week of school
By mid-August, you will receive an email from Imagine Learning (@imaginelearning.com) letting you know that the online course you requested is now available. This email will have log-in information and other helpful information.
Here is a brief video showing the overview of EdgeX platform.
Additional information may be communicated to you via email from your school or district.
Out-of-District Course
Students in Classes 2027–2029 may also complete Health through an out-of-district provider at their own expense. They must follow the MVLA Out of District Coursework approval process. Contact MVLA Educational Services for details.
